Architects Moule and Polyzoides designed the transit-oriented development, Del Mar Station surrounding a stop on the Metro Rail Gold Line as a gateway to the city of Pasadena. The project includes 347 studios, apartments, lofts and townhouses linked with c. 20,000 sq. ft. retail space within a network of public plazas, paseos and private courtyards. The 3.4-acre, $77 million project sits above a 1,200-car multi-level subterranean parking garage, with 600 spaces dedicated to transit. The light rail right of way, detailed as a public street, bisects the site.

The historic Santa Fe (AMTRAC) Railroad Passenger Station, originally designed by H.L. Gilman in 1935, a central feature of the site, has been rehabilitated and serves as a restaurant, integrated into the complex.

Located at 222 S. Raymond Avenue in downtown Pasadena, California.

I haven't been able to find many details about the "pink lady" Colonial Revival style house situated right around the corner from me (3439 Griffith Park Blvd) in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles. Designed for M.C. Hamilton in 1955, there's no guessing the current owner's favorite color; in springtime and summer the garden is all abloom in a riot of pink flowers.

Constructed of black granite and white marble at a cost of $5 million, 8500 Melrose was intended to compete with the nearby highly-successful Pacific Design Center. Conceived at a time when non-descript min-malls dominated the landscape, the black-and-white checkerboard, pink-trimmed building makes a bold statement on the corner of Melrose Avenue and La Cienega. Nevertheless it has never received much appreciation and has struggled to attract high-end tenants.
