Tom Mix (1880-1940) was one of the biggest stars of the silver screen in post World War I. In 1917, he signed with up-and-coming film director William Fox, who had acquired the Edendale Studios on the east edge of Silver Lake. Mix produced his own films under Fox, acquiring adjoining parcels of land; the special studio lot covered twelve acres and became known as 'Mixville'; a miniature western town. According to building permits, the house was originally built by contractor H.F. Getz for Mrs. E.J. Null. I don't know exactly when Mix moved into the house. A "well-known" child actor is said to have lived in the house during a point in time, but no one, to date seems to remember exactly who it was.

The Craftsman style bungalow is located at 1614 Golden Gate Avenue above Sunset Junction in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles.
