Architect Rex Lotery designed the Modernist style house for French actress Corinne Calvet in 1959. The actress was promoted "as a combination of Dietrich and Rita Hayworth", but her persona failed to live up to this description, though the fault lay as much with a string of mediocre films as with a lack of a compelling talent. Her sultry looks and flashing eyes were allied with an impish sense of humor. She eventually became better known for her fiery private life and some well-publicized legal battles.

The 6-bedroom, 8-bath home in 8800 sq. ft. is currently (January 2022) listed for sale $27M and described in part as "Sparing no expense, design team Philippe Naouri and Eric Choi of Maison d'Artiste, in collaboration with Studio Tim Campbell, have fully reimagined this architectural treasure. Conceptualized for French actress Corinne Calvet in the 1950s and inspired by a chance meeting with Charlotte Perriand, Lotery pulled out every artistic stop in his design to honor and maintain mid-century minimalism. While he may never have imagined the modern luxuries that have been adapted to fill this artful space, he no doubt would approve of the current adaptation and precision of which has insured the integrity of the original design for years to come".
