Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the United States designed his home in a Neoclassical style in 1772. The home and plantation, known as Monticello was originally 5,000 acres with Jefferson slave labor for extensive cultivation of tobacco and other crops.

The property was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1960. added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1966 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987. Located at 931 Thomas Jefferson Pkwy in Charlottesville, Virginia.
