The Craftsman style house on stilts was designed for H.W. Ayes in 1905. The house was designated a Los Angeles-Historic Cultural Monument (No. 753) in 2003. Building permits show that architect Gilbert L. Leong owned the house in the late 1950s; the house remained in the Leong family at least until the early 2000s.
