The Pioneer House of the Mother Colony was built by George Hanson, a Los Angeles surveyoor and founder of the Mother Colony, a group of German farmers who settled in the area in 1857 to start farming grapes. The house was designated a California Historic Landmark in 1935 (No. 201).

The house is located in Founders' Park in Anaheim, California. The park celebrates the city's agricultural heritage with two pioneer-era homes, the 1857 Mother Colony House, one of Anaheim's earliest homes and the 1894 Walker-Stoffer House, a Queen Anne Victorian. The park also encompasses an outhouse, carriage house, a new pump house and windmill representing the types of outbuildings that would be typical of a working citrus farm of the mid-nineteen century. The huge Moreton Bay fig tree located on the property was designated the city's first landmark tree in 2009.
