Architect Gregory Ain designed the Modernist style house for Richard J. Hoffman, Chairman of the Graphic Arts Department at Los Angeles City College and Ruth J. nee Lofthouse Hoffman in 1940. The couple lived in the house with their two daughters Judith and Susan.
