Our "home away from home" for the second year in a row during Palm Springs Modernism Week was the Caliente Tropics Hotel originally built in 1964. According to the hotel's website, the hotel attracted the who's who of Hollywood elites during the late 60s. "Frank Sinatra — Ol’ Blue Eyes himself — patronized the resort along with Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. and the rest of the Rat Pack regulars. They’d often be seen gathered at dinnertime in the Congo Room Steakhouse, and later conspiring at the underground Cellar bar, two of their favorite haunts of the day.

As the years went on, the popularity of The Tropics ebbed and flowed. Then, in the year 2000, new owners moved in and invested in its revival to the tune of $2.2 million. New restaurants were named and renamed, the resort underwent a facelift, and the ever-improving Caliente Tropics was ushered into a modern, 21st century world.

After one last change of the guard in 2015, here we are today, happy to say the Caliente Tropics Resort Hotel is the best deal in Palm Springs — if not for the tasteful tiki charm and comfortable beds, and if not for the area’s nicest pool and spa, or even the exquisite food and drink at the Evzin Palm Springs Restaurant and the Reef Bar, then perhaps for the rich history and our staff that help make it all possible".
