Architects A. Quincy Jones Jr. and Frederick Emmons designed the Modernist style house for developer Joseph Eichler as part of the Fairhills Tract, one of three neighborhoods developed by Eichler in the City of Orange, California. Houses in the development reflect the growing prosperity and increased size of typical Baby Boomer families of the 1960s. Eichler also worked with architect Claude Oakland & Associates for homes in the Fairhills community.

There are a total of 350 properties in the three Eichler communities in Orange, California (the others are Fairhaven and Fairmeadow). They are currently in the process of seeking historic designation.
