Architect Claude Oakland & Associates designed the Modernist style house in 1964. The house is part of the Fairhills Tract one of three neighborhoods developed by Joseph L. Eichler (1900-1974) in the City of Orange, California. Houses in the development reflect the growing prosperity and increased size of typical Baby Boomer families of the 1960s. Eichler used two different firms to augment his plan: A. Quincy Jones Jr. and Frederick Emmons along with Claude Oakland & Associates for homes in the Fairhills community. There are a total of 350 properties in the three Eichler communities in Orange, California (the others are Fairhaven and Fairmeadow). They are currently in the process of seeking historic designation.
