Eclectic style house designed for publisher George P. Putnam and his wife pioneer aviatrix Amelia Earhart in 1936. Earhart lived here will preparing for her around the world flight that began in 1937. During the flight she disappeared over the central Pacific Ocean near Howland Island. She was finally declared dead on January 5, 1939 at the age of 41.
