Architect Al F. Mantz designed the Spanish Colonial Revival style house for John D. McIntyre and his wife Nellie in 1926. Census records show that McIntyre (1887-1971) was a Vice President of a financial services company.

Architect Al F. G. Mantz was born in Peoria, Illinois. After studies at the Spaulding Institute he had an early career as an architect, after which he became a noted motion picture art director. His film credits include (for Metro Pictures) "Blackmail", "Cinderella's Twin", "The Offshore Pirate" and "Home Stuff" and for Dierker, "When Dawn Came".
