Architect Harold Levitt designed the contemporary style house for Milton and Lucile Smith Herbold in 1958. Milton Herbert Herbeld was born on May 28, 1908 in South Dakota. In Los Angeles he became prominent in the cosmetic industry as owner of Herbold Laboratories, Inc. and served on the executive committee of the California Cosmetics Association. He married the former Lucile Smith in Ventura, California on January 7, 1951. He died on September 17, 1980 and was buried at Rosemound Cemetery in Commerce, Hunt County, Texas.

Architect Harold W. Levitt was an important architect with many celebrity clients including Burt Lancaster, Steven Spielberg, and Lew Wasserman. Jennifer Aniston, MaryKate & Ashley Olsen, Ellen De Generes & Portia DeRossi, and Darren Starr have each acquired and updated Levitt homes. While many of the homes he designed have been razed or altered significantly the best of his intact residences are centered in Beverly Hills, specifically, in the Trousdale Estates enclave. Levitt also designed many notable commercial projects such as the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas and the Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences Building in Los Angeles.

The Herbold House is located at 1350 Casiano Road in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. Please do not use this image in any media without my permission. © All rights reserved.
