Architect Lawrence B. Clapp designed the late English Tudor Revival style house for Ernest Holtgrove in 1939. Holtgrove who was born in Germany on January 1, 1880, immigrated to the United States in 1902. He was a home builder as well as a building commissioner for the City of Los Angeles for twelve years. He was active in the Los Angeles Breakfast Club. Later he moved to Menlo Park, California where he passed away on June 12 1965.
