The Tubbs House may have been designed by the Foss Designing & Building Company. The house exhibits characteristics similar to a house designed by Foss at 1159 East Altadena Drive. The house was built for Arthur Clinton Tubbs and his wife Cora Belle Blattenburg Tubbs. The style is primarily Craftsman, however it also exhibits Mediterranean details (as in the tile roof) as well as elements of the Prairie style, such as those designed by Frank Lloyd Wright.

Mr. Tubbs was born in 1864 in Illinois and came to California at the age of 19. By 1916 he was President and General Manager of the Royal Laundry Company, which he had purchased. The company remained a fixture in the Pasadena business community until fairly recently (the laundry was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 27, 2007).

The 3-bedroom, 3-bath house in 3005 sq. ft. is currently (June 2016) on the market listed for sale for $1.6M and described in the listing as "situated on an knoll and has a regal appearance with magnificent views of city lights, a wrap-around porch and many Craftsman details especially in the overhanging eaves and window treatments. Large formal dining room with beautiful built-ins - butlers pantry - library and den - laundry room - large basement used as family room".

The Tubbs House is located at 1715 E. Altadena Drive in Altadena, California. Please do not use this image in any media without my permission. © All rights reserved.
