Architects Charles Sumner Greene and Henry Mather Greene designed the Craftsman style house in 1906 for Jennie Allen Reeve, the widow of Erastus R. Reeve (1824-1874), a brewer by trade for the M. Vassar & Co. Jennie was born in Poughkeepsie, New York on December 13, 1838. She died on February 24, 1911 and was buried alongside her husband at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, Duchess County, New York.
