The noted architectural firm Welton Beckett & Associates designed the Glendale Central Library in a Brutalist style in 1973. The style is relatively rare, especially in conservative towns like Glendale. The city is in the process of renovating and expanding the building as of May 2016 with construction due to be completed in 2017.
