Architect John A. Larralde designed the Spanish Colonial Revival style apartment complex for C.H. Walton in 1931. The complex was designated a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument (No. 714) in 2002.

Larralde (1885-1974) was a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) between 1921 and 1927. During a portion of his career he was a partner with William Barber, the brother of architect Thomas B. Barber.
