Architect Gilbert Leong designed the house for Judge Gilbert Wong and his wife Delores. Judge Wong was the first Chinese-American appointed to the bench in the U.S. mainland. He was appointed by Governor Edmund G. (Pat) Brown. Judge Wong broke the color barrier in Silver Lake for the Chinese community. It has been said that, despite his professional standing, his house was picketed when he and his family moved there in 1954.

The house is currently (April 2015) on the market listed for sale for $1,649,000. Located at 2416 West Silver Lake Drive in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles, California.
