Architect Rex Lotery (b. August 19, 1930) designed the house for himself in 1962. Lotery graduated from Rensselear Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelor of Architecture degree in 1952 after which he worked as a draftsman in the office of architect William Stevenson between 1953 and 1954 and Barienbrok and Murry between 1954 and 1955 before branching out on his own in 1956. In 1972 he became partners with architect Ray Kappe with whom he remained until 1981.
