Winslow was a highly regarded architect of the 20th century having won many important commissions including the Carthay Circle Theater (1926); the El Prado Complex in San Diego's Balboa Park (1935) and locally, St. Mary's of the Angeles Church on Finley Avenue. Since 1979 the house has been the home of actress Marilyn Devin. She appeared in First to Fight (1967), Tiger, Tiger (1969) and The Money Jungle (1967).

The Kilner House is located at 2031 North Oxford Avenue in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles. The house was featured on the Los Feliz Improvement Association (LFIA) Historic Trees/Historic Homes Tour benefiting the restoration of the historic deodar cedar trees located on Los Feliz Boulevard.
