Congratulations Maryland National Guard Freestate ChalleNGe Academy graduates. Although the graduation took place June 10, 2017, at Havre de Grace High School, the cadets completed a 22-week quasi-military residential program for at-risk youth located on the Edgewood Area of Aberdeen Proving Ground. While enrolled in the ChalleNGe program, participants prepare to take the GED test and are introduced to many programs and concepts that are necessary for a successful and healthy lifestyle. Administered by the Maryland National Guard, the program helps young adults acquire and refine the skills and strengths necessary to take more productive roles in our communities. The residential portion of the program is followed up with a 12-month mentoring phase designed to help graduates adjust to the world of work and follow-on education. |
