The Netherlands-Slochteren
Magnolia blooms briefly, smells nice and -according to Cretaceous fossil finds- belongs to the earliest flowering plants on earth. Magnolia is not considered to be native to The Netherlands. But fossil finds from geological periods like late Oligocene (about 25 million years ago), when the climate in our country was sub-tropical, show a long lasting presence of Magnolia. © Tom Kisjes
