"And this Thing I saw! How can I describe it? A monstrrous tripod, higher than many houses, striding over the young pine trees, and smashing them aside of its career; a walking engine of glittering metal, striding now across the heather; articulate ropes of steel dangling from it, and the cluttering tumult of its passage mingling with the riot of the thunder. A flash, and it came out vividly, heeling over one way with two feet in the air, to vanish and reappear almost instantly as it seemed , with the next flash, a hundred of yards nearer."

H.G. Wells, The War of the Worlds

De profundis clamavi ad te, Domine;
Domine, exaudi vocem meam. Fiant aures tuæ intendentes
in vocem deprecationis meæ.
Si iniquitates observaveris, Domine, Domine, quis sustinebit?
Quia apud te propitiatio est; et propter legem tuam sustinui te, Domine.
Sustinuit anima mea in verbo ejus:
Speravit anima mea in Domino.
A custodia matutina usque ad noctem, speret Israël in Domino.
Quia apud Dominum misericordia, et copiosa apud eum redemptio.
Et ipse redimet Israël ex omnibus iniquitatibus ejus.

-----

Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O Lord.
Lord, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.
If thou, Lord, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?
But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.
I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.
My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning.
Let Israel hope in the Lord: for with the Lord there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption.
And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.

Paslm 130, in king James version for the English translation. It has been put to music more than once, Arvo Pärt's version is outstanding: www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdoafPTSQpE.

We went to the sea life aquarium in Speyer the other day. It's always nice to see fish swim around, but I am afraid it is not a particularly impressive aquarium, and I felt rather sorry for many big animals that didn't have all that much room. I also found out the hard way acrylic glass isn't all that great, optically speaking, specially when it's bent. Get your focus all right, your pictures still end up rather blurry. So I didn't do that many of them either.

Mon poisson rouge ayant appris
Que les oiseaux quittaient leurs cages
Se dit un jour tiens, moi aussi
Je voudrais voir du paysage!

Mon bocal est trop petit,
L'eau est sale, l'herbe y pousse
Je veux voir du beau pays
Et m'étendre sur la mousse!

Fish at the SeaLife Aquarium last summer, and a song I learnt in little school. That's it, the 35mm is on the trip to Coblence tomorrow.

Meaning something like "Fire brigade inlet hydrant installation"... You always feel German words are so long, but they can actually pack a lot of information in a tight package, something that can become painfully obvious when a translation is needed.
The building next door has recently undergone complete renovation and is now painted black and bright red, yielding lovely contrasts and textures at night.

No-name "APS" 35mm f/1.6 CCTV lens @ f/2.8 - f/4. Ideally I'd have used a smaller aperture, but without tripod IBIS can achieve only so much...
