This male ruffed grouse was on my land near my horse graveyard just waiting when I rode Lily by around noon... then when I took my quad past hours later, much to my surprise it was still there standing in the same spot like a statue so I decided to race back to get my camera as the sun was getting ready to go down. It was difficult to focus on him through all the branches but I managed to get a few shots off before he proceeded to play hide and seek with me. They know all the best hiding spots as grouse are at one with the bush the way I could never be. I soon gave up as the light was fading fast. I like to think he was waiting for a smitten suitor that stood him up maybe not through any fault of her own. I wonder if he will be there tomorrow...waiting ;-)
