While taking in views around the Far View Sites with the Pipe Shrine House. The setting is looking to the north-northwest at a nearby wall with a spiral pattern edged into stone and then a look beyond to other parts of this Ancestral Puebloan archaeological site. The other thing that drew me into this image was the layers present, which I attempted to emphasize by capturing a look above a nearby wall to other walls in the distance.

A setting looking to the south while taking in views of this bristlecone and evergreen forest along the Bristlecone Loop Trail in Bryce Canyon National Park. My thought on composing this image was to use a portrait orientation to take advantage of the tall trees to my front. The hiking trail would also be a leading line into the image. The blue skies above would be that color contrast to complement the earth-tones in the lower portion of the image and also highlight those tall trees caught in the glow of morning sunlight.

A setting looking to the southeast while taking in views across eroded rock formations present in this part of Joshua Tree National Park. This location is at the Arch Rock while walking the namesake nature trail. My thought on composing this image was to center the arch itself in the image center while pulling back little bit on the focal length to include some nearby formations and add to the setting.

While at a roadside pullout along the Icefields Parkway with a view looking to the west to Center Crowfoot Mountain. This is in Banff National Park. My thought on composing this image was to zoom in with the focal length to have the mountainside fill most of the image and a backdrop of blue skies to complete this setting in the Canadian Rockies. While there was a slight haze from the wildfires in Alberta mixed with the bright afternoon sunlight, I was able to bring out much of the details later, using the ClearView Plus tool in DxO PhotoLab 6. PeakVisor app on my iPhone identified the listing of Center Crowfoot Mountain.

While walking around and exploring the Bisti Badlands with a view looking to the east to some eroded formations present in this part of Bisti/De-Na-Zin Wilderness Area. What I wanted to capture with this image was to align myself with the hoodoo formation to my front and bring out a pattern or grouping. The rest was finding a balance with the hoodoo formation and using the blue skies and clouds as a backdrop to highlight this formation.
