This place is known locally as the Witch's Castle, a local oddity from Portland. It's actually just a Park Rangers building that was damaged in a storm and never repaired. I'm up here on a business trip for a few days, managed to do a quick hike this morning.

The underside of St. John's Bridge in Portland with what I feel are perfectly architected abutments for a bridge with a name like that. The bridge is, in fact, a suspension bridge over the Willamette, with this series of arches serving as an abutment on the St. John's side.

Yes, I'm that idiot photographer, perched out on a frequently submerged rock at high tide to get shot of Thor's Well. An incredible natural illusion, it seems that the ocean is draining endlessly into this bottomless gateway to the underworld. In fact, it's about 20 feet deep and the water that falls in, drains out with the receding waves, only to fill up again with the next wave. A spectacular sight around high tide and storms. This was taken about 30 minutes before high tide.
Yes - I got soaked.
Yes - It was worth it.
No - I didn't use my telephoto lens.
Yes - It's bucket list worthy.
