This snake was resting in a rock crevice along the Lake Trail today; we also seen a Black Racer right in our path very close to where we found this one, and a Great Northern Water Snake in the wetlands.

The park received 3.1 inches total of rain on 7/14 and 7/15 in two brief but terrible storms. We have been walking there every day between rains. This little bullfrog had come out of the swollen streams and was hiding in the flora along the trail. We were looking at a couple of water snakes hiding in the flora and spotted it. Hope it don't get eaten. The park lake is completely full and the waterfall is crazy still several days after all the rain. We live a few miles away and only had about an inch of rain for those two days. Over the park they had a cloud burst with lots of hail and lightning. Trees are down everywhere. They are still cleaning up.

This turtle stays right around my dock. I throw out corn, fish feed, and old bread when I have it very often. The fish can hear my footsteps on the walkway and come looking for food and so does this little turtle. He was there last summer too. My husband found a River Cooter Turtle in our yard that had come from a pond at the road above our house and carried it to the lake and put it in. I "think" this might be the same one because I don't see but this one River Cooter there.

Not for everyone and that is OK!
It had rained and we had not walked the dog for a couple of days. The temp was 82 and time was around noon and we were near the end of our 4 mile hike when this happened. A Copperhead beside our path only inches from us. All the hikers were gathered round. My husband wanted me to post the snake. Shew......
It reached the 90's here today. We also saw a water snake in the park today. We have seen around 10 snakes this spring in the park.

We came upon these two Queen Snakes hanging over the water in the wetlands area in the park. Below them is a very shallow section of water. They eat crayfish and live near streams that have a good supply of them.
A black racer snake had just a few minutes before ran in front of me on the trail and went in the weeds and my husband was right behind me with the dog saying "take his picture, take his picture" and I said, if I do anything, it will be run.😥
A couple of days before we saw a ring neck snake and again, it crawled right in front of me on the trail and into the weeds. Lots of snakes coming out this time of year.
