This beautiful rabbit lives on the farm next door to me.

It is not that I wanted a rabbit, but this one lives here for two or three years. I tried to fence it out, but it always found a way back in, so now it gets rabbit food.

I had heard the Orioles in my trees calling to each other all day and decided to try to find them. I walked down the neighbor's fence row on the farm and happened upon this quite surprised rabbit. He sat and watched me for a few minutes and hopped off. I think he looks a little surprised. These are much larger rabbits than we normally see here. I have been told they were ordered by and introduced to the farm by a beagle owner years ago. He let his dogs run them but he did not shoot them. It is fun in the evening to watch them chase and play from my dock as I lounge and enjoy the end of the day. They are prey for our eagles and osprey and foxes.

We try to fence them out, but they know it and so they want to live under my Potting Shed that much more.

We have racoon, deer, possums, rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels, and sad to say black snakes which try to eat the bird eggs. Most we can fence out, but not all of these little creatures.
