They were playing at the top of the dam in the spillway to the waterfall. They would get in the down stream draft, swim out and go right back. Full of joy with a watchful Mom nearby. I hope they make it, only two are left of her youngsters.
This was just too beautiful to crop to make the ducklings show up better. If you enlarge, you can see them better and the effects of the slow shutter on the water under the ducklings' feet and detect a little body movement in the blur. I took some with a fast shutter, but I ended up liking these better.

Folks around here call them "Water Turkeys". There is a group of probably 100 or more on the lake right now. I can see them go ashore up the lake from me, but they aren't coming ashore here. I took this image at the park last fall.

Taken at a local park. The deer won't come up to you, but they are not very afraid of you. I took several images of the mother too that I have not posted.

He was feeding from a dead tree over the water. I am not sure what that greenery is at his feet, maybe some kind of algae. We had a lot of local flooding during the rain and snow so the water probably came up this high and deposited the greenery. We were able to actually get out and take a walk at a local park during a warm winter day this week. I had a long prime lens and to get him totally in the shot from the path, I had to turn it sideways because he was really close to me and unafraid.
