Red Wing Blackbird - Displaying
They do this constantly during spring.
He was strutting back and forth across this large oak branch.
The male erects his epaulets and hunches his shoulders forward and lowers and spreads his tail. This dramatic display serves two functions: to defend his territory from other males and to attract females.

He is working very hard taking care of his family. I see him going in and out of the birdhouse from dawn to dusk.

Looks best in large. I didn't want to crop the blossoms.

Welcome spring! I was a little surprised to see ducklings already, but very pleased. She had 11 ducklings that looked like they just came off the nest. We've had freezing weather followed by a warm up and 60 mile an hour wind gusts with falling trees in the park, but she came through it all nesting to produce her little family.
