The Congonhas Airport/São Paulo (opened in April 12, 1936 ) is the second busiest airport in Brazil.

Congonhas was once the busiest airport in the country between the years 1990 to 2006, when the crash of TAM Flight 3054 in July 2007 (199 fatalities), has caused many flights were transferred to other airports.

It is currently the second busiest airport in number of passengers and number of aircraft in Brazil and the first Infraero network.

Today the airport operates at full capacity of their tracks with 536 commercial flights daily which equates to a landing or a takeoff every 2 minutes during the airport operating hours - from 06:00h to 23:00h.
