From a close encounter with this stunning young male Eurasian eagle-owl (Bubo bubo). An awesome experience, since they are nocturnal and rarely seen or heard.
It was found crashing into a pond, weak and hungry in the long-lasting cold weather one winter. After being fed with lots of dead birds and mice in a barn on our island for two weeks, it was ready to go back to the wild.
