I went to the Minnesota Twins Target Field baseball stadium ballpark the other night in downtown Minneapolis. The home town Twins beat the Seattle Mariners 3-2 after a winning RBI single with two outs in the 9th inning - fun! I ran between innings up to the top deck to take this shot with my Nikon 16mm fisheye - thanks to the couple along the back row for letting me shoot from there spot - Minnesotans are so nice!

Hawksbill Mountain, Linville Gorge, NC
It was an ideal morning to be up on the mountain with the carolina rhododendron in peak bloom and a beautiful sunrise to top it off. The sun was already getting pretty bright by the time I saw this composition so I kept most of it above the frame. Just before sunrise I was joined by my friend and fellow photographer Keith Clontz.

It may be winter, but I'm already dreaming of wandering the high country next summer, hopefully capturing some more magic such as this. A rare blue moon sets Mt. Daniels and the surrounding area aglow during deep twilight light.

Mount Pleasant resides within the national scenic area that bears its name. I find this to be the most beautiful area of the central VA Blue Ridge. The mountain is just a little over 4000 ft and poised on the eastern edge where the piedmont area starts. It has 2 rocky outcroppings separated by about 1/4 mile, one looking east...and this view looking west towards the sunset. When I go backpacking I like best those mountains that make possible sunrise and sunsets shots. Looking south Apple Orchard Mountain can be seen in the far distance, and north the nearby Spy Rock and Priest. Here is just sort of nestled into the middle of a lot of higher elevation mountains. It's not a really difficult hike to get up here since the trailhead starts rather high, about 2.5 miles one way. This is one of the more remote places in this area though since it is well off the Appalachian Trail that is sort of an interstate of hikers in Virginia during May. I hiked up here in the late afternoon with my dog Turbo and really expected to be alone this night, but there were 2 other groups...two guys with a rather elaborate BBQ going over a big fire, and another couple. I got well away from them all on the east side and it was very peaceful all night...good neighbors for a change! There really is nothing else like being up on a mountain this time of the evening watching a beautiful sunset without the hassle of getting back to civilization! ___________________________________My images cannot be purchased or licensed.
