Pretty and pink go together, but it really is a rose color that we see here on this Spoonbill foraging in a shallow area of the bayou. We don’t see a lot of them here on the bayou and so it’s always a treat to have one cooperate a bit and do a bit of foraging while visiting the bayou. Roseate Spoonbill on Horsepen Bayou.

The spring flowers are attempting to stay open but the days are varied and the flowers change with the weather, which has been cold with only occasional sun . The bees come in and feast up on the sunny days. They must have great scouts

Looking through my photo collection this morning looking for something a little different than my usual posts, and I came across this shot taken in Custer State Park, South Dakota.
While hiking a short trail, I found this UFO growing between a couple of moss-covered boulders in a stream bed. It may appear that I was looking straight down for this shot. But it was growing from the side, just a few inches from the ground. So I was lying flat with elbows acting as bi-pod.
I suspect this plant won't be unidentified for long after some of my Flickr friends weigh in.

This is the third of a series about Red-necked Grebe courting behavior.
Ater their dance, the pair made their way to the shore and and consumated their nuptials.
I hope to get future shots of nesting, feeding the hatchlings, and the chicks riding on their parent's backs.
