It would be an easy life, find me some excellent models, shoot them until I get old and crazy.
But it's always something. They move away, they get busy, they get popular and all of a sudden it's weeks until they're available to shoot.
I'm sure it's all them, too. Not me at all, nope.
The problem is really that I need to shoot all the time. Right now I'm up to around three shoots a week. Most folks, they got day jobs, can't shoot at 10am on a wednesday.
10am on a Wednesday being perfect for a man of leisure like myself.
Need to find me some early-riser, irregular schedule folk to shoot, who live super close, and are up for being photographed 24 hours a day.
How hard can that be?
See? This is why (amongst the host of other reasons) I'm always shooting new people.
There's a monster in my brain. That monster requires photos. And it is always hungry.

It's still a challenge, dealing with digital and light. Up there on that hill in Griffith Park, I was finding there was just too much light, too sunny, even my 5D was having trouble getting it quite right.
I always shoot in color, would always rather convert to black & white than have it in b&w and wish it was in color. I love color, man. Just love it. It's what I love about Polaroid so much, that unique palette.
But converting this shot to b&w, I found the bright bright sky in the background chilled out more than enough for me to be cool with the shot.
I love getting the shot right On the Day, I work hard to be able to take a good picture when I'm taking it.
But every once in awhile I get my post-processing on, come up with something decent.
Also, I now feel compelled to mention as often as possible, I'm teaching a class in Seattle next month! Click for DETAILS!!!!

I took this TEN YEARS AGO, TODAY.
I don't actually care.
It's curious, sure, photography's been my hobby, my passion, for over ten years. Ten years ago I was setting up shoot, hiking up hills, getting used to new cameras, searching (always searching) for new models.
Am I better? Am I worse??? Doesn't matter a whit. I'm still having fun, still engaged in the art every single day. Still meeting new people and having weird experiences because I carry a camera around.
I'm not guided by the impulse to improve, though I do attempt it. I'm guided by the urge to make as much of life A Good Time as possible, and this is how I do it.
That I've been living that way for ten years...okay, that's pretty cool.
