Don't worry, I won't make a habit of this, my dedication to the Great Polaroid is still absolute, but I've recently gotten, as birthday presents(October 23rd, still time to send gifts), an iPhone and a Mamiya c330. I'm thinking it'd be just plain rude not to use these gifts, and towards that end, I'll using them both to take photos. Expanding my arsenal, as it were.
And when you're on the top of a giant rock formation, and your polaroid 250 is malfunctioning and you've packed your polaroid 680 too deep in your bag, beneath the gummi bears, even, sometimes you've got to rely on your Jesus Phone to capture the moment.
And, frankly, I'm rather impressed. Expect not a lot, but occasional shots from this super sweet phone. camera. email device. IS THERE ANYTHING IT CAN'T DO?

You have to get here early, that's the thing. By nine a.m., families have already sent their scouts to scoop up the few tables the park provides. There's always parties on the weekends, so the only way to get a table for yourself is to beat the others to the punch.
I got here at 10 one year, and it was all taken up.
So this year, like the last and the one before that, I arrived at 730, bag full of things intended to keep me busy until the bbq starts. At 1pm. For some reason the laptop isn't playing dvds, and the chess program drains the battery something fierce, so it's a bit of Flickr, a bit of reading, maybe take a few pictures of trees while I wait. Feel free to stop by. I'm the guy with the big black bag full of cameras.

See the look on Kim's face? That's the look that immediately followed her "it won't work, the light'll burn out the shot," comment.
And yet, here it is, no little black dot where the center of the light is. Yet another camera mastered by LOU O' BEDLAM!!!
But not really. I've started using a light meter, because I've absolutely no idea how to guess the settings on this super complicated camera. Got the shots back yesterday, and I realized that now that the lighting issue is solved, I've really got to work hard on actually taking a good shot. Saw the results and the first thing I thought was, "wow, these sure are well lit and a bit on the boring side."
Man, photography is hard!

Starting to feel out my new neighborhood, which has in walking distance at least four decent restaurants.
One of which is the 101 cafe. Decent is about it, though, as the quality suffers the busier the place gets.
The sausage patties, for example, were not Kim's favorite, as they were reminiscent in shape and taste to hockey pucks.
Maybe that's why she's got that face in this shot.
