Though I have several stories of my time in the City That Never Sleeps(which, as a medical professional, I can tell you is not at all healthy), one that stands out is evidenced here: as we drove to Coney Island, we saw this man, just passed right the fuck out while riding, cargo door wide open, in the back of a moving truck. Was he exhausted? Homeless? Dead? Our driver, Jen, showed an amazing array of skills, jumping right into action as I yelled "GET ME CLOSER!!" just fucking awesome. This alone made the trip worth it.

More to come.

As we wait for a hot dog from the "World Famous Nathan's Hot Dogs", she waits for me to shoot the picture, trying very hard not to react to the jokes and prodding from our friends. She is a consumate professional.

Oh sure, she's a fine photographer, but did you know that Roidrage is also quite accomplished at "getting her freak on" when the appropriate hip-hop is played? She and the man known only as "Boston" went straight into ghetto move numbers 7-22, burning up the dance floor and making the rest of the white folk look like they were moving underwater. Bravo!! Ah, to be young again.

While hanging out in Rockefeller Center, minding my own business and munching on some Twizzlers, I saw this walking down the street, a procession of around twenty people following. Several photographers were in front of this group, doing the Paparazzi, so I did the only thing I could, and joined in, waiting as long as I could before snapping the shot, in my head the ancient chant "not yet....not yet...." After they passed by, I asked someone on the end of the procession what the deuce was going on. Apparently it's part of a traditional Indian wedding ceremony. Which is funny, because I studied India a wee bit during college, and I don't remember the part of their culture where a white guy on a horse is led by a white gal down the streets of New York. Maybe I skipped class that day. Did that a lot. Dorm room bed was so comfy.

The name pretty much says it all. I must admit I was jazzed to realize that there's enough ambient light in the NY subway system to take shots without a flash. Imagine the amount of power being used on a daily basis to light a subway system hundreds of miles long, traveling at high speeds through the bowels of the city. crazy, man. the whole thing just blows my mind, all that tunneling, and created, what, a hundred years ago or something. i really need to look it up on Google. Being an LA native, I'm in complete awe of public transportation on this scale, it never stops being a wacky novelty. every time i get on the subway, it's "weeee, the subway, so efficient, and look at ALL THESE PEOPLE." still don't quite have the balls to photograph strangers on the subway. just doesn't seem "cool". any NY natives do that?
