I am returned. Back from the Tod Brilliant wedding. And let me tell you, in addition to having an amazing group of friends, a super-hot wife, and a kick ass suit(accessorized w/white adidas), Tod also has the most amazing polaroid camera collection i've seen in all my days.
And by gum, the motherfucker knows how to throw a party.

It was only once the ceremony started that I noticed the subtle yet welcome modifications to the traditional wedding ceremony.
They said their own vows.
No best man or maid of honor.
Parasols to protect people from the sun.
Hay to protect the lawn from the people.
At the end, they asked everyone to pull a "collective vow" from underneath our seats, after which we all, in one voice, helped usher them into marriage.
One of my favorite weddings, if for no other reason than after dinner, an ice cream truck rolled up and handed out Big Sticks, Darth Vader heads, ice cream sandwiches, and other assorted awesomeness.

An artist in her own right, she knew, she always knows, exactly what to give the camera. We’d tried once before, earlier that day, both knew that the first shot was less than what we wanted.
There was a lot going on, it was a wedding, after all, so it was another hour or so until we were able to try again.
The light was going, everyone was moving to the other part of the house, where the dance floor looked out onto the river, so when I saw she was available, we took one more, fast, very little set-up. I actually interrupted a conversation she was having to pull it off. I was looking for the classic Anne face, even though I’d just met her, long before I found out she has the uncanny ability to look completely different in every photo ever taken of her.
So who knows if this is the real Anne, if it's even possible to capture real Anne. But yea gods, I do love this shot.

The wedding was held at a friend's house, but don't think that this was a ceremony limited in scope. The property was the length of a football field, with a small home on the far end, and directly behind it, the river that runs through most of Healdsburg.
In talking to the owner of the house, he let it be known that this was only his weekend home, that he spent the week in The City(san francisco). I guess when you own several restaurants, one house just seems too quaint.
Sundown by the river is a sight I've had little experience with, but now insist on repeating at some point.
