Still very taken with this period of my photography...the photos, sure, fine, they're nice...but driving around town hanging out of car windows, that was just so sweet. Any half-decent shot from a day like that was a victory, and we all of us were worn out and giggle-delirious by the end of the shoot.
I'm feeling it all moving on. I've taken to shooting people I work with, it's what I think about when I think about future shoots, who can I shoot from work. Guess I really am done with models.
But this shoot, these California Highway Parties, this looks to me like an alternate universe, a place where I started shooting in cars and never stopped. Where all my shoots involved motion, misdemeanors, whole crew exhausted and chomping on Twizzlers while parked on some LA side street.
Where I started renting cars. Then vans. Then buses. Bigger and bigger, always with motion, maybe involving more and more people. Overly-contrived parties in double-decker buses, barreling down long stretches of desert road.
...okay, maybe I'm not done, just yet.
