Great Western Railway King 4-6-0 6023 King Edward II stands at the head of its train in Platform 1 at Loughborough Central. I have dropped the lamp middle & bottom and unhooked but took the chance to grab this shot before running round for water at the north of the station. From 07.30 to 12.15 we used 2500 gallons of water to-ing & fro-ing on the photo charter, not to mention the mass of coal I shifted into that long, long firebox.
The Reporting Numbers are original GWR artefacts. If you view the original you can read the hand-written "Old Oak Common" & "Didcot" markings on the "1" & the "3".
