A black and white edit of a shot taken on assignment for a major international client with the direction to capture 'candid' emotions while the subject was being interviewed.

It's hard to believe this was four years ago. The pandemic curtailing my work and making the passage of time feel a little odd. It was a great shoot with a wonderful team of people, including my assistant helping to light the shot with a reflector as natural light was vital for all of the shots in the brief. It was a real challenge to ensure engaging eye contact while the interviewer was having to lean over my shoulder. Side by side didn't work at all because, obviously, people will engage with those that are speaking with them. Enjoy!

Captured in February 2019, this is my choice of shot and black and white edit from a session capturing images on an advertising shoot for an international brand. Shot using natural light, with reflector, while the subject is being interviewed to catch subtle and suitable emotions for the things that are being discussed. The brief was tight but the shoot was amazing fun. Enjoy!

Captured in February 2019 as a series of shots during interview for a client, this is a personal black and white edit from that series of shots. The series was to capture a range of emotions 'candidly' during interview but I loved this straight-looking portrait because of the gentle smile going on. Shot using natural light only with assistant managing a white reflector to bring as much soft light in as possible in the mid afternoon.

On assignment with an advertising agency team on the streets of Manchester we randomly stumbled upon Cleo. A different image was used for the campaign but I loved this 'warm up' shot taken before we started the interview.

An unused subject for an advertising campaign captured in February 2019. The brief was to 'candidly' capture emotional response during interview on the street and centralise the shot to allow for cropping to different social media formats. Therese was quite the character and this was lit with natural light only with some soft reflected light. This is a black and white re-edit of the originally chosen shot. Enjoy!
