A black and white edit of a shot taken on assignment for a major international client with the direction to capture 'candid' emotions while the subject was being interviewed.
It's hard to believe this was four years ago. The pandemic curtailing my work and making the passage of time feel a little odd. It was a great shoot with a wonderful team of people, including my assistant helping to light the shot with a reflector as natural light was vital for all of the shots in the brief. It was a real challenge to ensure engaging eye contact while the interviewer was having to lean over my shoulder. Side by side didn't work at all because, obviously, people will engage with those that are speaking with them. Enjoy!

I made this street portrait of Leona as part of my '100 Strangers' project here on Flickr and have previously posted this same colour shot. Captured on my old Canon 400D with a Speedlite attached and slightly diffused, I decided to revisit the colour edit of this shot. I gave this a slightly warmer overall tone and cropped in just a touch. I spent some time on a frequency separation edit in Photoshop which is a technique I had yet to learn at the time I shot and posted the original image.

Previously unpublished shot from March 2019. Another example of that pink hair/green lips combination that I saw during that month in the city. Either a short-lived fashion or unexplained cyanosis. Don't get me wrong, I cherish individuality and more power to her, I just don't understand the combination from a colour aesthetic.
