I made this street portrait of Leona as part of my '100 Strangers' project here on Flickr and have previously posted this same colour shot. Captured on my old Canon 400D with a Speedlite attached and slightly diffused, I decided to revisit the colour edit of this shot. I gave this a slightly warmer overall tone and cropped in just a touch. I spent some time on a frequency separation edit in Photoshop which is a technique I had yet to learn at the time I shot and posted the original image.

This previously unpublished shot from December 2016 captures Leo Mushet, the Glasgow Raver, doing what he loved the most. Dancing along with street performers in the city.

I just discovered that he has been unable to dance on the streets since the pandemic began as his care home has prevented him from leaving. Leo has a brain injury and he was allowed to come and go as he pleased prior to the pandemic, I can barely imagine how hard it must be for him. He is a kind soul that raised a lot of money for good causes when he could.**

Sadly there are a great many people who have had Christmas ruined by the ongoing pandemic. Tens of millions of loved ones lost, hundreds of millions damaged by Long Covid, many millions of vulnerable people unable to live freely after all health protections were removed and many millions being miserably ill time and time again.

Amongst all of this misery it can be difficult to find joy for a festive season full of holidays of all kinds but it is vital that we do try to find joy where and when we can. While I think of those who are suffering and come to terms with my first Christmas since my mum passed away, I will also take time to enjoy the warmth and love that Christmas brings from those that matter most.

Wherever you are and however you celebrate during the dark winter months. My thoughts are with you and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

**addendum I have since discovered that Leo has been able to get out on the street and dance this year, according to his Facebook page and not the local news article that I read which turns out was misleading. My apologies.
