Standing in rubber boots and with my companion who dressed his tripod with tennis balls at Bandon Beach, OR at some late afternoon while the rising tide was coming in. The last light bathing the seascape gives the feeling of some pre-historic creature rising out of the water.

The Oregon coast has quite treacherous waters and many ships and sail-men got lost. No wonder that you see more or less one lighthouse after the other while driving along highway 101. Heceta Head lighthouse was a particularly nice one to wait for the later hours of the day to explore its light qualities.

A long time ago, on my first trip to Oregon and carrying some “pre-historic” digital equipment, I arrived at Cannon Beach with heavy rain. It was windy, wet, cold and all grey-in-grey. As I walk along the shore the weather turns around and the appearance of the beach with the iconic Haystack changes dramatically.

This is post is to open my real participation here under the "Land Escapers". As anyone else in this group this post goes with a lot of doubts. Something that I feel almost at every post.
My New Years Resolution was to work around the technique of fotografing against light. The sun, the moon or any other lightsource as backlight. I already knew that it would be quite a challenge and most of my work in this respect never made it to be presented. The first real breakthrough was my recently "Peek-A-Boo" posted at TE ( and now deleted as almost everything else from TE). This sunset shot over Horseshoe Bend was one of the rare moments were I didn't have any doubts regards its outcome and as such it was not only a succes at TE but also it got sold size of 17x22" x 3.
Not having the audience of TE that was more a kind of cheering crowd I would like to hear from you guys the real critiques.

This one of these places that I dreamed off to get to know and see it live for about a whole year. I fantasized for a year seeing this seascape in the most wonderful light conditions to end up getting there and most of it being wrapped in thick fog. The place was almost not recognizable with what I have seen in images.
I moved on with my trip and thought that this was it, but my partner “forced”me back to this place next morning despite an early wake up and a long drive. Was I happy at the end? Yes! Could have it been better? Always!
Thank you for being a pain in the neck, buddy!
