Goðafoss is located at the river Skjálfandafljót which runs through Bárðardalur and Kinn in Northeast Iceland. It is just off the main ring road 1 by the farm Fosshóll.
The present composition is a rather non-original one, but there are certain images that haunt me a life long and once I have been to such a place I just return home with the feeling that I got mine. Still, the light and weather conditions were something to be dealt with and that was not easy at all to avoid the intense rain to interfere with my camera, lens and filters. At the end I was wet to the bones and yet happy while the gear was dry.

Londrangar basalt cliffs are uniquely formed remnants of ancient basalt volcanic dikes sticking out from the sea. These are remains of a crater, which has been eroded by the sea.

Taken at the volcanic beach at Stokksnes in southeasterm Iceland close to sunset. Not an easy subject to be photographed so close to the surf as sooner then later a bigger wave ended up dumping a huge deal of water in my boots.

The last lunar eclipse, September 27-28/2015 was a real gift as I was during this period in Iceland and the weather there is completely unpredictable. It is NOT like in the American Southwest were I have a 90% chance to see the unfolding of an entire eclipse as the weather will most likely be clear.
So I was hoping these two weeks of Iceland for good weather during the night for two reasons: total lunar eclipse and northern lights. My luck was enormous as the only night that I got to see northern lights was the same night of the total lunar eclipse.
The unfolding of the celestial drama was truly an once in a lifetime event! The whole setting got even more out-of-this-world with the cinder cones in the foreground giving the feeling to be a guest at USS Enterprise and visiting a planet in some distant galaxy.

Capture taken at the last minutes of the day at Jökulsárlón Beach (glacier lagoon beach).
Vatnajökul is Iceland’s largest glacier and feeds above mentioned lagoon with melting water and icebergs. The water and the icebergs flow into the sea. The current and waves deposit the icebergs on the black sand beach and provide a real nirvana for photographers.
I had clear thoughts of what I wanted to achieve there, but the weather was not supportive at all as the overcast and the fierce wind did not allow any shots. Persistence paid off as I returned to the beach the next evening when the weather did not look promising at all. Nevertheless, I stepped into the car and drove the 30 km from the hotel to the beach. Needless to say that the weather all of the sudden did a 180 degree turn and I was in absolute awe with the beauty of the place.
