A ‘drive’ over the Elephant Hill to get to the Devil's Kitchen is not a recommended adventure when there is rainy weather on the forecast.

Image created during the Lake Powell photo tour I organized last year. After the houseboat portion I added a “through the deep sand” portion for some of the participants by driving to White Pocket. Present image was the last of this day at White Pocket with the very last light of the day caressing the landscape with a faint red velvet.
Interested in joining it this year? Have a look here.

A hike down the Nankoweap trail is pure adventure. It requires a lot to make sure you will get down to the Colorado River and get back to your car waiting at the trailhead. There are many online entries with details and strategies how to accomplish this 35 miles backpacking trip.

It took me a day to get to the Colorado River. I arrived there about 1 1/2 hours too late to take the shot I was hoping for. The full moon and the constant rushing noise of the river where my night companions.

As soon as the sun got into the gorge next morning the heat got unbearable. Lucky me to have included an umbrella in my gear to protect me from the direct sun. It was a long day waiting for the right moment. Finally, almost 24 hours after my arrival at the site, I was able to craft my images.

Was it worth it? YES (!!!) and I might be crazy to do it again, eventually ;-)

Washington DC is a monumental city. No questions!

The amount of people visiting and crowding its monuments is almost even more monumental than Washington DC’s monuments itself. Not easy to find a moment to have the monuments just for yourself. Finally I found a moment of piece sharing the space just with Abraham Lincoln sitting in my back. Here is his spoiled and eternal view of the George Washington Memorial right before sunrise at 6 am.

This one of these places that I dreamed off to get to know and see it live for about a whole year. I fantasized for a year seeing this seascape in the most wonderful light conditions to end up getting there and most of it being wrapped in thick fog. The place was almost not recognizable with what I have seen in images.
I moved on with my trip and thought that this was it, but my partner “forced”me back to this place next morning despite an early wake up and a long drive. Was I happy at the end? Yes! Could have it been better? Always!
Thank you for being a pain in the neck, buddy!
