A hike down the Nankoweap trail is pure adventure. It requires a lot to make sure you will get down to the Colorado River and get back to your car waiting at the trailhead. There are many online entries with details and strategies how to accomplish this 35 miles backpacking trip.

It took me a day to get to the Colorado River. I arrived there about 1 1/2 hours too late to take the shot I was hoping for. The full moon and the constant rushing noise of the river where my night companions.

As soon as the sun got into the gorge next morning the heat got unbearable. Lucky me to have included an umbrella in my gear to protect me from the direct sun. It was a long day waiting for the right moment. Finally, almost 24 hours after my arrival at the site, I was able to craft my images.

Was it worth it? YES (!!!) and I might be crazy to do it again, eventually ;-)
