This image was created up at Cedar Mesa (UT) depicting an Ancestral Puebloan dwelling. The uniqueness lays in the pictograph which is not really a pictograph. I would call it a mudgraph as it was not painted with some colors as you would expect if from a pictograph. It was done with mud. The very same mud that was used to plaster the stones together for the dwellings you can see in this image.

The white men came to North America and it was already populated by Native Americans. There was not much respect for these inhabitants. There was not much interest for their cultural values, beliefs and history either. Interest and respect is surfacing slowly and the feeling that the native cultural legacy is to be studied, valued and preserved is coming up. The latest sweeping move in this regard was the creation of the Bears Ears National Monument December 28, 2016. Needless to say that the new administration wants to shrink the boundaries considerably. Drilling, farming and driving off-road vehicles seems to be more important. O tempora o mores!
