The Ponte Sant’Angelo was the main access to the St Peter’s Dom until 1911. It served for centuries for pilgrims to cross the Tiber seeking for repentance. Hence, quite fitting to have ten angels holding instruments of the Passion and reminding the passing by pilgrims of Christ’s Martyrdom.
This is an early morning shot as in the evening the bridge is PACKED with people making such an image impossible.
